The Home Office operates a Priority Service what can greatly speed up your decision if you are looking to apply in a tight deadline.

Applications to UK Visas and Immigration can be lengthy, with many taking several weeks for decisions to be made. If you need your application considered quickly, the Home Office can provide a Priority Service to speed things up.

The Priority Service works differently for applicants in the UK than it does for those outside. If you are in the UK, your visa application may be eligible for the same-day premium service. This involves attending a public inquiry office and receiving your result in person.

Should you choose to use the Priority Service from outside the UK, your application will be put to the front of the line but will still take some time to be considered. For US citizens, there are nine ‘Super Priority’ visa services across the States.

How do I use the UK visa Priority Service?

You will need to apply for the Priority Service online at the VFS Global website. You will also need to provide an indication of this with the application that you send off.

This service is used for most points-based applications, including Tier 2 and Tier 5 applications and Tier 4 students.

When instructing IAS to manage your Priority application, your lawyer will apply to use this service for you.

What is the ‘Super Priority’ visa service UK?

There is currently nine Super Priority service centers in the US. These can be found in:

  • New York
  • Los Angeles
  • Washington DC
  • Miami
  • Chicago
  • Houston
  • Boston
  • Atlanta
  • Seattle

You will need to apply at the premium application center at your location should you wish to use this service.

Can I use the UK visa Priority Service if I have already submitted my application by post?

If you have already submitted your application by post, it is possible to switch to the Priority visa Service UK. Your lawyer will be able to advise you on how to do this.
