1: The situation

Yuma is a Japanese National. She had entered the UK previously to conduct short-term English Language courses lasting no more than 30 days.

She was now a very confident English speaker and wanted to study in the UK for a much longer period of time so that she could improve.

Her chosen University gave her a CAS Letter (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) – this was for a three-year course.

She read our reviews online and arranged a call with one of her lawyers. She was currently employed full-time and because of the time difference, was not available during weekdays.

2: How IAS helped

IAS organised a Telephone Advice Session on a Saturday for her.

We outlined the documents and minimum amount of savings that she required.

Because of her busy schedule, IAS obtained all of the relevant forms for her and completed them. With her permission, we also contacted her University to clarify the terms of her CAS Letter to ensure it covered the course she intended to do.

3: The outcome

Yuma’s application was accepted and processed in time for her first semester. She was even permitted to arrive in the UK a few weeks early so that she could settle in, make friends and prepare herself for her education.

She contacted IAS again to see if she could work whilst she studied – we confirmed the hours she was permitted to work during both her term and vacation time.
