Anna: Tier 2 Work Visa

Anna, a Russian National, was promoted by her global company and was required to move her and her family to relocate to the UK.

However, under UK immigration rules, Anna needed a Tier 2 General Visa to work in the UK. She contacted IAS for visa assistance so she could fully understand the process she needed to undertake.

Anna fulfilled the requirements for a Tier 2 Visa and the only problem was that the company office, based in the UK, did not have a Sponsorship Licence to offer Anna a Certificate of Sponsorship.

IAS assisted the company with their Sponsorship Licence application and helped Anna successfully submit her visa application. With Anna’s visa, she was also able to bring her family to the UK with her as dependents.

1: The situation

Anna was a Russian National who had been working with a global company for over 10 years. She dealt with their UK Office on a regular basis using Skype.

After securing a promotion in her company, she was offered employment in the UK which could be used as a path towards UK residency.

She requested a Skype appointment with one of our lawyers at a suitable time for her to discuss her options.

2: How IAS helped

A lawyer called Anna and confirmed that, as per the Immigration Rules, she would need a valid visa to enter the UK.

She was uncertain which visa would best suit her needs.

IAS suggested that we conference another call with Anna and her employers to fully outline an appropriate plan based on both their needs.

The next day, this was organised and it was clear that Anna would be eligible for a Tier 2 Work Visa. This would allow for her to work and reside in the UK, as well as bring her husband and child over as dependents.

There was a slight issue in that Anna’s company did not yet have the status to offer her a Certificate of Sponsorship.

As part of Anna’s application, IAS secured the sponsorship status of the company within a week and immediately began her application for a Tier 2 Visa.

3: The outcome

Anna made a successful application for a Tier 2 Visa and bought her family over to the UK as dependents.

Anna and her family were assured that they would be able to settle in the UK after a few years of residency.
